PLUS is the system of dovetail bars and rings for telescopes designed by PrimaLuceLab in order to connect in a modular way telescopes and accessories in a stable manner and without flexures. All elements are made of high-strength aluminum, sandblasted, with high thickness red anodizing treatment. All PLUS elements are designed to be connected to each other always with at least two screws (M6) to ensure the greatest possible strength and the total absence of flexions, very important for astrophotography.

What is the PLUS system composed by? PLUS is an universal system, that adapts to any telescope of any optical scheme. The basic elements are the dovetail plates, for mounts with dovetail Losmandy type or Vixen type connection, available in various lengths.

With all of these dimensions you can also use the PLUS system plates with rings by other brands of telescopes, using a central screw through the appropriate slot. Using our dovetail bars with PLUS rings, the elements are fixed with two M6 screws obtaining the best mechanical rigidity. PLUS the support rings are available in various diameters.

To ensure compatibility even with special telescopes (especially those having large diameter focusers like the Takahashi FSQs) we created 10mm spacers ​​that adds space between the ring and the dovetail bar while maintaining maximum stiffness.

Furthermore, support rings can be fixed to the end of the plates or, in the case of smaller telescopes, fixed using internal holes in this way enabling a more precise balancing of the weights. The 115mm and 135mm diameter guide rings can be attached directly via two M6 screws to the support ring, or if the distance is too great for a small guide telescope through a Losmandy or Vixen type dovetail bar.

If you want to further control the balance of weight you can use two PLUS Vixen+Losmandy dovetail clamps or a singlePLUS Vixen+Losmandy dovetail clamp on which to install the guide rings, and slide everything on a PLUS dovetail bar.

If in the future you want to change your setup, you simply add a PLUS element to create the configuration that best suits your needs. Distances between holes are always the same so you never have to replace a particular item because not compatible, you rather will be pleasantly surprised by expansion possibilities.

Even EAGLE, the first control unit for telescopes, is perfectly integrated with the PLUS system. EAGLE mechanically behaves like a dovetail bar (but it incorporates a computer, a wireless router, a USB hub and a power bridge) thanks to its particular aluminum case, free from any flexure. It’s therefore ideal to be fixed between the main telescope and the guide telescope, or, on large telescopes, through the PLUS Vixen+Losmandy dovetail clamp.
