In fact, also if the EAGLE4 basic version has enough computing power to run any deep-sky astrophotography software and device, when we designed the EAGLE4 we wanted to provide also faster processors option and added storage space, in order to offer the best match for everyone's needs based on different applications that every astronomer have with his telescope. Then, all the EAGLE4 units shares the same advanced features, but they differ for computing power, power consumption, ports configuration and prices. EAGLE4 comes with a Celeron processor with 4GB of RAM, 120 GB of SSD space and 8 USB ports. The EAGLE4 S has an i3 Dual Core processor with 8GB of RAM, 240 GB SSD drive, 9 USB ports (one of them is Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C type connector). And the EAGLE4 PRO comes with an i5 Quad Core processor with 16 GB of RAM, 480 GB SSD drive + 9 USB ports (one of them is Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C type connector). Faster processor and increased RAM memory of the EAGLE4 S and EAGLE4 PRO increases a lot performances of the integrated computer of the EAGLE. As you can see in the below chart, EAGLE4 S is around 60% faster than EAGLE4. The EAGLE4 PRO is around 90% faster than EAGLE4.
Not a faster processor will make your EAGLE even faster and will allow you to make the most of your telescope time, but the increase of performance is very important in applications that make intense use of processing power, like plate solving or autofocusing routines on multi stars. Also, even if the basic EAGLE4 is able to make all of this, the faster EAGLE4 S or PRO models will complete any task in less time so you will make the most from your time under the sky. More processing power and added storage space are very important also in planetary imaging with fast USB 3 cameras where EAGLE4 S and even more the EAGLE4 PRO will allow you to save more frames per seconds and this will improve your processing of high res images. More, the Thunderbolt 3 port with USB-C connector that is present only in EAGLE4 S and PRO models allow you, for example, to connect very fast external drives for an easy option of added storage!
But, because of the faster processor, EAGLE4 S and PRO requires also more power: the medium power consumption of the standard EAGLE4 is only 600mA/hour and this increases to 1000mA/hour for the EAGLE4S and 1600mA/hour for the EAGLE4 PRO. This means that, if you use your telescope with a field battery and you search for the best portability, the EAGLE4 basic version could be an even better choice since it needs a lot less power and you can use a smaller battery.
