In this article we will see how EAGLE helps control the remote observatory starting from the example of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astrofilifiemme.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fiemme Astronomy Association<\/a> that has an important astronomical observatory\u00a0in\u00a0Tesero (TN &#8211; Italy). The amateur astronomers in Fiemme Astronomy Association conduct global outreach by showing the beauty of the night sky to those vacationing in nearby hotels, visiting from all around the world! In order to do all of these, they have a large 50cm diameter Ritchey-Chretien telescope, together with a 18 cm diameter apochromatic refractor in parallel. All the telescopes are installed on a large fork equatorial mount.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the problem they face is how to remotely control and power all the devices installed in the telescopes, since the cables to connect to computer in control room are too long. Let&#8217;s see how we solved the problem by installing EAGLE directly on\u00a0the telescope.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 650px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L2wNkyOaX9s?rel=0\" width=\"300\" height=\"365\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We installed the EAGLE on the observatory telescope by connecting in a very\u00a0simple way to a Losmandy dovetail bar by using a Vixen+Losmandy PLUS dovetail clamp.\u00a0This way they can connect all the cameras and accessories they want to use with very short USB cables. The same\u00a0devices are now\u00a0powered through the EAGLE with the appropriate power cables.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1453\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1453\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1453\" src=\"https:\/\/www.primalucelab.com\/wp\/astronomy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/07\/Remote-observatory-control-with-EAGLE-image1-new.jpg\" alt=\"Remote observatory control with EAGLE: installing the EAGLE on the telescope\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1453\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Remote observatory control with EAGLE: installing the EAGLE on the telescope<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then the EAGLE\u00a0has been connected to the observatory control computer with a WiFi connection and the same computer is then connected to a large monitor placed inside the dome. This way all the people visiting the observatory can now see the live picture coming from the camera installed on the telescope!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1457\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1457\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1457\" src=\"https:\/\/www.primalucelab.com\/wp\/astronomy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/07\/Remote-observatory-control-with-EAGLE-image2-new.jpg\" alt=\"Remote observatory control with EAGLE: on the left the monitor where visitors are able to see the image in real time\" width=\"650\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1457\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Remote observatory control with EAGLE: the EAGLE installed on the large telescope.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By connecting the EAGLE to the wireless network of the observatory or by using an ethernet cable to connect it to the router, they can connect it to the Internet.
