The Aurora Flatfields thanks to the new backlight technology, ensuring a perfectly illuminated and homogeneous surface. The light of these panels covers a very wide range of spectrum, particularly useful for spectroscopy user. The panels are very lightweight and easy to use, the various sizes allow you to choose the one that best suits to your optics. Are available models with both external power supply or AA batteries, all panels need to be powered by 12V to ensure a proper operation and provide the lighting needed to obtain a well-calibrated Flat image.
In the following picture you can see three different spectrums, in the first image was used a poor quality panel. The second is already a better image where a better quality panel was used than the first one. The last image instead was a Flatfield Aurora, as you can see the resulting image is absolutely perfect and well calibrated.
If the panel is too bright, there are various solutions to get the correct exposure. For example, insert a sheet of paper between the plexiglass and the light panel, or you can also adjust the light intensity by lowering the inverter voltage. In some cases with very bright or low-focal instruments, but even if using very sensitive camera, are available some Neutral Density Films, that can be applied within the Flatfield frame to reduce the brightness.
In order to get a Flat images properly exposed and uniformly illuminated, you must purchase the correct size so that it is perfectly centered on the optic. For example, on a 150mm refractor the 160mm Flatfield is the correct one. In the case of a 200mm Newton, the panel will have to cover the total aperture of the mirror in addition to the sensor diagonal measurement. If you have a dimensioned CCD (<14mm), the Aurora 220mm is sufficient. If you are using an APSC sensor, you will need the next size.
