SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED apochromatic refractor with ESATTO 2": main features
The SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED telescope is a 120mm f/7.5 apochromatic refractor that offers large diameter objective at a really affordable price. The objective is a doublet apochromatic with FPL-53 glass that produces no false color images (very well correct chromatic aberration): the result is a contrasted picture and rich in details. The SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED telescope it's still lightweight and therefore it can also be used on HEQ5 type mounts. It comes standard with a a lot of accessories: ESATTO robotic microfocuser, LET 28mm eyepiece (32x, 50.8mm in diameter), 90° dielectric 50,8mm mirror diagonal, 9x50 finder, PLUS support rings and aluminum transport case. 3 years of warranty on the optical tube!

ESATTO: the most advanced and affordable robotic microfocuser!
SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED telescope has a Crayford focuser that doesn't offer a high load capacity so it is not recommended for long exposure astrophotography with heavy cameras or accessories. This special version of the Skywatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED adds ESATTO 2", the new generation robotic focuser that you control by any Windows computer by connecting it to a USB port, or via WiFi by using ESATTO app on your smartphone or tablet with the Virtual HandPad! On the camera side, ESATTO has a M56x1 male thread to connect and manually rotate many cameras and accessories by adding the optional adapters with stop rings. The 2” version of the ESATTO 2" has a depth of 67mm, it has 15mm of focuser tube travel, a 5kg payload capacity and an incredible resolution of 0,04 micron per step (and this is why we call it ESATTO)! Based on the camera and accessories you want to connect, you may need extenders to reach the focus with your camera (focus point exits 150mm from the ESATTO focuser). And you can also expand ESATTO features by adding the ARCO robotic camera rotator!
PLUS: the best support rings for telescopes
In this kit we replace the standard rings with our PLUS rings which offer greater stability and compatibility with plates, guide rings, dovetail clamps and EAGLE to offer you maximum freedom in customizing your telescope. Indeed, all the PLUS elements have threaded holes, holes and slots suitable for connecting elements, always with maximum rigidity and comfort. Each component of the PLUS system is made of aluminum blocks that are high precision CNC machined. The aluminum is then sandblasted to achieve a very smooth surface finish and is anodized (hard anodizing) to increase the hardness of the material and protect it from oxidation.

SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED perfect also for deep-sky astrophotography
The optional 0,85x reducer/flattener enables you to convert it into a telescope to photograph deep-sky objects even with large sensor camera (like DSLR). In fact it decreases telescope focal length at 765mm and focal ratio changes from f9 to f7,65. This makes it easier to record the weak details of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. In order to reach the focus point with the optional 0,85x reducer you have to add 2 15mm extensions PL3600286. By adding EAGLE to the SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED telescope you can remotely control and power any camera, mount and accessory for astrophotography, using any of the most advanced astronomical software for Windows (you can install in the EAGLE the software you prefer) and converting your SkyWatcher EVOSTAR 120 ED into the most advanced robotic telescope.

Thanks to the many available adapters, you can easily use ESATTO as the new focuser for refractors and improve performance, especially in astrophotography. Refractors, and especially the apochromatic models, are perfect instruments for astrophotography since they haven't a very long focal length (you can use them for very long exposures also with affordable mounts) and they combine very good performance with easy of use. But many refractors use a focuser that may not be able to adequately support your camera and the accessories used in astrophotography: let's see how you can improve your refractor telescope by replacing the focuser with ESATTO.
How to choose the best focusing systems for telescopes? Our SESTO SENSO robotic focusing motor and ESATTO robotic microfocuser offer the same basic features but different designs in order to offer you the best focusing solution, both for astrophotography and visual use. In this article we analyze the main differences between the 2 devices and we suggest what model is the best based on the telescope you have and the application you want to use. This way you will learn why our SESTO SENSO robotic focusing motor and ESATTO robotic microfocuser are the best focusing systems for telescopes and how you can use them in order to improve your telescope.
